Reporting Inappropriate Conduct in the Care Setting

The inappropriate conduct offence under the Education and Care Services National Law is now in effect across Australia. Every adult working or volunteering in an education and care service is prohibited from engaging in conduct that a reasonable person would consider inappropriate in the presence of children.

Course Details

In this course, Dr Mary Anne Hall breaks down the Inappropriate Conduct offence, exploring how this important requirement can be embedded into everyday workplace practices and used as a proactive tool to protect children from harm, abuse and neglect.

Educators, Nominated Supervisors and Approved Providers all need a clear understanding of the nature and scope of Inappropriate Conduct offences, including their responsibilities in recognising, responding to and reporting concerns appropriately.

This course also explores how Inappropriate Conduct legislation works alongside Mandatory Reporting obligations, the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Schemes to strengthen child safety and wellbeing across education and care services.

Designed specifically for the Early Childhood Education and Care sector, this short course will support Approved Providers, Nominated Supervisors and management teams to confidently respond to complaints relating to Inappropriate Conduct, including understanding appropriate documentation processes and subsequent reporting requirements.

The course contains a combination of videos, informative slides, written content and quizzes to support learning and reinforce key concepts.

There are no limits to how many times you can attempt the assessment questions. A certificate of completion will be issued once all assessment questions have been answered successfully.
